Jesus got tired and hungry. He was tempted every way we are. And he got angry. Especially when men loved Sabbath rigor over healing a disabled man. Graceless religion is fallen man at his worst, despising God’s love and His Son. And it made Jesus angry. Listen as we examine Mark 3:1-6 and consider what makes Jesus angry.

10/13/2024 | “Getting Rest” | Mark 2:23-28
Nothing steals Sabbath rest like legalism. The men of Jesus’ day turned gracious rest into self-righteous works. When they complained how the Lord of the Sabbath kept the day, he reminded them that the Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. Join us as we examine Mark 2:23-28 and consider how we are the think rightly about the Lord’s Day and how we observe it.

Love does not “coexist.” It refuses to go along to get along. Love draws lines, makes demands, does not settle for status quo. As Jesus proclaims the gospel, he draws lines, makes demands, challenges the status quo. New wine explodes old wineskins! Join us as we examine Mark 2:18-22 and consider Jesus’ response to demands that the gospel coexist with somber, self-righteous religion.

Jesus’ grace was promiscuous. And his self-righteous contemporaries found it scandalous. He declared all men sin-sick. In need of the care of a gracious Savior. More was lifeless than the paralytics legs. He was bound by more than his bed. Four friends went to extremes to bring him to Jesus for healing. But Jesus knew more was needed than healing. And Jesus is more than a healer. Much more! Join us as we examine Mark 2:1-12 and consider our greatest need and the only one who can meet it.

Dangerous fevers, evil spirits, & contagion are no match for Jesus. Neither is the sting of sin & death. In Mark 1:29-45 Jesus’ compassion is unveiled as he cares for harassed and helpless people. But Jesus has come to do much, much more.

Whenever Jesus teaches, heals or casts out a demon, the crowd’s response is always the same. “What is this? A new teaching with authority! He commands even unclean spirits, and they obey him.” What about you? What is your response? Listen as we examine Mark 1:21-28 and consider the authority of Jesus to save and our response to it.
